FUNtastic Studio Kudos

Studio Kudos is a design studio founded by John Kudos and Kiki Katahira. John Kudos is an Indonesian designer (which makes me proud.. >.< and creates a new hope in me...) who used to work at Pentagram, while Kiki is a designer from 2x4 in New York. I barely knew about them, but I happened to know one of their works that I loved very much, business card for hairstylist Yuka Suzuki. It is a very fun card that can be customized by inserting hairpins through the die-cut along the top of the illustration. So, the solution is endless.. depends on how you insert each pins.

At that time, I couldn't remember well who was the designer until I found out about the studios. And I was thrilled to know their other works are as fascinating as the business card. Below are some of their work samples. Take a look and see if you agree with me...

poster that makes me curious..

This web particularly is a very interesting one.. I can't describe it well. So let me give you a quote from Studio Kudos.

"Website for FreeState, a London-based experience design studio. Pictured on the website’s homepage is a shop window graphic, a grid of A4 prints held by magnetic dots from behind the glass window. Every week, a photograph of the window is taken and uploaded onto the website to establish a relationship between the studio’s web presence and physical location.

The grid of graphic prints also serves as an interface to navigate through the projects. Placing the mouse over the door reveals a physical sign explaining what the studio does and a client list that can filter the projects by type."

Last but not least,, This is a very smart wrapping paper. A truly versatile design.

"The numbers 9 and 10, signifying the turn of 2009 to 2010, are revealed through the use of fluorescent green and metallic bronze-gold color bursts. When wrapped over gifts or objects, the oversized numbers are cropped, creating ever-changing abstract design that is unique to each object."
